AUTISM CONSULTATION SUPPORT

Our autism specialists are experts in understanding autism characteristics and needs. They will support your general education and special education teachers with best practices to engage students with autism in the classroom.

 Our special education and general education staff are available to support your teachers with classroom observations and modeling, including classroom management, student engagement, and instructional coaching.

DUE PROCESS

Our special education staff are experts in due process and can provide in-depth or refresher training to ensure your systems are working effectively and within the state parameters. This can be accomplished by providing group training or individual coaching to support your special education staff. In addition, our staff are available to complete due process, freeing up time for your teachers to provide direct service to students.

INTERVENTION/MTSS PROCESS

TCEC staff are available to review your intervention/MTSS process, to meet with your intervention team, and to ensure that the system is functioning at high levels to increase student achievement and behavior success.

INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING

Let our special education and general education team of consultants support your teachers with instructional coaching. These coaching opportunities may include 1:1 sessions with teachers to identify goals, evaluate lessons and instruction, provide feedback, and determine action for continued professional growth and development. Our staff can model instructional and behavioral strategies, and support positive and caring classroom management strategies and environments.

CLASSROOM MANAGMENT

 At TCEC, our consultants help teachers make the necessary adjustments to create an efficient and optimal classroom learning environment for students. The following areas are analyzed and may be adjusted: academic and support visuals, flow and function of the space, physical layout of the classroom, teacher’s approach to students’ learning, materials used in the classroom, and student’s needs.

CRISIS PREVENTION INTERVENTION (CPI) TRAINING

TCEC has a number of crisis prevention consultants who have been certified through the Crisis Intervention Institute. This CPI training consists of learning all of the components of the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program for certification or renewal. â€‹

CPI training provides skills to de-escalate verbal and physical crisis situations with the goal of improving school culture and decreasing the use of restraint and seclusion within school environments. The training will prepare staff to respond effectively to crisis situations and will provide strategies for staff to implement through evidence-based techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive interventions (when necessary and as a last resort).

TCEC is available to provide CPI training to our K-12 partner schools.​

  • Initial training (8 hours)  is available for up to 20 staff

  • Refresher training (4 hours) is available for those that have an active certification and need to renew.

  • Staff may earn Continuing Education Credits (CEUs)
