Summary of Professional Experiences:  

Melissa has worked as a professional in the field of education for over 13 years. Melissa has experience working in several roles within school-aged special education programs, from paraprofessional to coordinator of special education programs. 

  • Melissa joined TCEC in 2017 as a Special Education Consultant supporting charter schools with K-12 special education services. 

  • Worked as a Special Education Coordinator collaborating with parents, teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators to meet the individual needs of each student and provide the needed support for students with disabilities. 

  • Case managed and provided special education services to students in grades K-12.

  • Coached and trained paraeducators and teachers.

  • Organize and lead Child Study Team meetings, support teachers and families and help develop interventions for struggling students. 

  • Conducted, wrote, analyzed and tracked special education evaluations, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students in grades K-12. 

  • Various professional development opportunities focusing on trauma, equity, community, diversity and academic excellence.​

 

Personal Information:

Melissa loves to spend time with her family- husband, Ryan, and daughters, Rory and Bernadette. Melissa was born and raised in Minnesota. She loves Minnesota summers, especially swimming and boating at the lake.
